The Riverdale Art Walk occurs this weekend, June 5th and 6th. The neighbourhood art fair displays work by members and associates of the Riverdale Artists Network, of which I’m a member. While I’m not exhibiting at the fair, I am taking on a challenge on its behalf. There are 90 artists exhibiting in Jimmie Simpson Park, and I’m going to take portraits of each of them. It’s a good learning experience and a great opportunity to spend time with some fabulous people.
If you do make it down the RAW make sure you not only get to the park but also see the mouth-watering work of Toni Wallachy at Ed’s Real Scoop (920 Queen Street East) and Susan Wallace, who is exhibiting her recent encaustic paintings at her studio located at 276 Carlaw Avenue, Studio 215. Take note of Susan’s work; usually you have to go to Mad Dog Gallery in Prince Edward County (or Montreal, where she also exhibits) to see her art. Seeing her paintings where they are created is a real treat.
